These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the OpenElse Agent website and browser extension (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Description of Service
OpenElse Agent is a free, open-source browser extension and website that enables AI-powered browser automation. OpenElse adopts a local-first architecture — all AI interactions happen directly between your browser and the AI provider you configure, without passing through any intermediate server.
2. Your API Keys and Third-Party Services
You are solely responsible for obtaining, configuring, and managing your own API keys for third-party AI services (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.). You are responsible for all costs associated with your use of these services, and for complying with their respective terms of service. OpenElse does not store, transmit, or have access to your API keys.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: use the Service for any unlawful purpose; attempt to access, tamper with, or disrupt the Service; use the Service to send spam or unauthorized communications; violate the terms of service of any third-party AI provider; infringe on intellectual property rights; or use the Service to harm, harass, or defraud others.
4. Intellectual Property
The OpenElse Agent source code is licensed under Apache 2.0. The OpenElse name, logo, and website content are owned by OpenElse. You may use the Service for personal and commercial purposes.
5. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy, reliability, or availability of the Service. AI outputs may be incorrect, biased, or inappropriate. You are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, OpenElse shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to API costs, data loss, or business interruption.
7. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time without notice.
8. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes are effective when posted on this page.
